With the world all in a tizzy,
Try to not get dizzy,
She breathes her lover's sighs,
Ignoring ambivalent cries,
If I've lost you in the mess,
I suppose it's all for the best,
But while their eyes are pried away,
Perhaps you could stay, just stay.
My wisdom comes from my heart,
My heart belongs to you,
You've made me part of the mindless generation,
It feels so good,
With everything as it should.
Cups of coffee and nothing new.
We think we are rebels,
Intelligent beyond our years,
But we haven't even conquered our childhood fears,
We'll take the ignorance with a grain of salt,
Misbehaving for the sake of being caught,
In twenty years we'll sit and laugh,
Though I don't know if we'll last 'til tomorrow,
I guess we'll both be surprised,
Pleasantly or otherwise.
And if I tried to brush it off,
I didn't really mean it,
Caught toeing the line,
Between matured cynicism and childhood dreams,
With each breath we take,
Impatiently hovering in our lungs.
We fancy ourselves to be innovators,
Yet we're jaded and hypocritical,
One day we'll figure it out,
But one day always eludes us,
It's as if we're searching for nothing,
Just trying to not be lonely,
Yet it sinks in,
We're just dreaming,
If there were a thousand ways to die,
We've pictured them all inside our minds,
And still I'll let it go,
Because time will only tell me no.
So fleeting.
So empty.
Fulfilling.
They hit the ceiling.
We give up.
We break down.
We'll wear those frowns.
Let's have hope.
And dream big.
You'll learn your lesson, kid.
